Chat Thai

We know that you might have heard about this restaurant million times before.
however, we still would like to share our opinion on this restaurant since it has been called as one of the best in town :)

Chat Thai is a famous Thai restaurant where you might need to wait for more than 30 mins and you can always see people are waiting in front of the restaurant especially during weekends.

There are 2 branches where the original Chat Thai is located near Haymarket and another one is in Sydney Westfield ( which we found it is better in term of seating and atmosphere)

Som tam Thai - this is a papaya salad dish which is really famous in Thailand. We asked for the mild version (since we heard it would be really spicy in Thailand). There is a combination of sweet and sour tastes which we found it is really delicious and it would be a great dish for a kick start of the meal.

Pad Si-eiw - all time favourite dish. This noodle dish is rich in flavour and so delicious. However, the noodle is a bit oily in our opinion. It would be better if they put less oil in it but still ! we love the taste of the dish anyway :)

DTom-liahd-mhu (left) - clear soup of pork assiette with garlic and lovage.
We ordered a small size which cost us only $5. It is really cheap in relative to the size of the dish. However, we still think that the soup is a bit too plain and does not have a unique flavour since you can find other clear soup dishes which give the same taste as this one.

ba mee nahm bped (right) - roasted duck and egg noodles in five spice broth.
This dish was the best on that day:) rich in flavour of the soup and the roasted duck was really soft and you would feel like it's melting in your mouth.  A bit more duck would be welcomed. It is just tooo good and we love it !!

Green curry chicken (left)-  green curry of chicken with apple eggplants, kaffir lime leaves and basil never made us disappointed :) creamy and good depth of flavour.

Kaai-yang - char grilled turmeric and lemongrass marinated chicken with smoked chilli and tamarind relish : too less chicken !! it's a bit overpriced and the chicken seems to be not enough for all of us. The taste is just great. The sauce goes really well with the char grilled chicken.

Sticky rice and mango - fresh cut kensington pride mango with sweet sticky rice

We love how they decorate the dish. It is just so lovely and beautiful.
The taste is just great as how it looks. Rich in flavour, Coconut milk goes well with the sweetness if the  mango and sweet sticky rice. This is a must for you to try :)

Overall, we love these dishes and the price is reasonable with the welcoming service.
We do recommend this place if you don't mind long queues and noisy environment.
