Pho Gia Hoi

Are you looking for a tasty, inexpensive authentic Vietnamese cuisine?
Here it is - the best Vietnamese noodles in town!!

You can easily notice it by its bright orange colour!!

The followings are our all time favourite:

Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio
Grilled pork and spring rolls with rice vermicelli
The pork and crispy rolls match perfectly with the fresh veggies and rice vermicelli.
It is so yummy!! The best appetizer ever!!

Beef Rice Noodle Soup
A classic Vietnamese dish!!
It is served with a side of bean sprouts, lemon wedge and mint leaves.
The broth is well made and authentic.
The beef and noodles are well flavored and is served in a huge bowl

Special Pork & Beef with Rice Vermicelli Soup
Another classic Vietnamese dish!!
This dish is hot and spicy with nice flavour and ingredients.

Grilled chicken with egg noodle in soup
The grilled chicken is well cooked with classic Vietnamese sweet and salty flavours.
The egg noodles are perfectly cooked and served with sweet fish saucy dip.
It always comes with a huge bowl of Chinese style soup, which is a bit salty :p

Grilled Pork Chop with Rice
The pork chop is juicy and tender.
And is served with tomato rice.
But we discover that the tomato taste is not rich enough,
instead it is full of egg yolk taste :p

All in all, the place is clean, the staff are friendly, and
most importantly the food are fabulous at reasonable prices!!

Kamikazi

What comes to your mind when you heard of the word ‘ Japanese food ’ ? It should be Susi, Ramen, Tempura etc. However, this time we are going to introduce you a restaurant call Kamikaze which serves Japanese food in an amazing way.

This restaurant is located on the second floor in the Harbourside Shopping Centre in Darling Harbour. As it is closed to the Cockie Bay, you can see the Darling Harbour fireworks through the window of the restaurant around 9 o’clock. It is always a luxury to eat the delicious Japanese food under the dazzling light in the sky. Although all food is good and fresh, one dish is highly recommended.

Teppanyaki chicken fried rice

Chickens are well cooked with the special prepared sweet chili sauce.
Every pieces of chicken are not only easy to chew, but also smell good because of the sauce. As an Asian, we love eating rice, especially the fried one.

Kamikaze provides what we need. Although the rice is fried, it is not that oily as it seems. The price is definitely underrated with the incomparable views of Darling harbor and Cockie Bay.

A special thing we would like to highlight is about the chefs.
Since some food is cooked on the grill in front of the customers, it is entertaining and eyes catching. Sometimes, we can see the interaction between the chefs and the customers. For instance, the chefs throw the cooked food into the customer’s mouth.
It is quite funny as the chef missed several times.  HAHA!!

Thanh Binh is one of the best kept culinary secrets in Sydney.

We really love the appetizers in Thanh Binh, we recommend you to have

Bánh tôm

sweet potato straw & prawn fritter,
served with mixed greens & fish-based dipping sauce. This is a
Vietnamese version of prawn pancake. This is so delicious!!

Gỏi đu đủ cua lột

with lemon dressing. They make the crab so crispy and the taste is sour.

The main dishes which we recommend you to try are

Caffe Cherry Bean - Eastwood

We had a chance to try Caffe Cherry Bean since it first opened in Eastwood.

Surprisingly, they got a lot of branches
including the store in Chatswood, Ashfiled and Pyrmont.

The place is really nice and cozy. Good place to have a chat or relax yourself.

Since they claim they got a great coffee.
So the first thing we got is this lovely Skim Cappuccino

Skim Cappuccino

The coffee was a bit bitter at the first time.
However, the second time we went it was amazing.

Club Sandwishes - w/chips and salad Bacon, chicken fillet, egg,
lettuce, tomato, cheese w/ mayo

We ordered this one right away since we saw it at the front door of the cafe.
Absolutely amazing ! The chips are great and the bacon is perfectly cooked.
We definitely order this dish again next time.

Chicken with avocado salad -
Mixed salad, chicken, cucumber, tomato, onion, caper, avocado w/ Italian dressing

Disappointing !! There is nothing special in this dish.
The avocado was not that good. The chicken was just alright.
The price is not reasonable with the quality of the food we got here.

Ippudo

We tried Ippudo's lastest franchise in Sydney at Westfield.

As we entered the restaurant, an enthusiastic chorus of 'Irrashaimase'  from all the service staffs in there. It's just so welcoming and friendly.

The staffs are really friendly and always came and asked if we need anything.
The service is great and we do love the decor of the place.

It is also a comfortable place to dine by yourself
since they got a reasonable price for their noodle.

First dish was Ippudo's Gyoza - Hakata style pan fried dumplings ( $6)

Thin skins are perfectly cooked with a slight outer crisp while retaining some juiciness inside. We love it and we would have them again next time.

Shiro maru Motoaji - Ippudo original style tonkotsu broth served with thin noodle, pork loin, cabbage, black mushroom & shallot.  ($15)

We love its depth flavour and tender slices of pork. The mushroom is crunchy.
The noodle is soft and the soup is smooth and a bit creamy but it's just perfect somehow.

This is a must try dish ! we really recommend it :)

RED CHILLI SICHUAN

This is a well-established Sichuan restaurant group
in many suburbs in Sydney and Melbourne which providing Sichuan food lovers
fine authentic Sichuan cuisine.

The outlets are finely designed and decorated in traditional Sichuan
Style makes you feel the south western culture of China.

Deep-fried chicken dices with dried chilli. All of us love spicy food and this is our
favorite one.  For those who don't like spicy food, we recommend you guys to order
this menu without dried chilli, the taste would be a bit different but its still tasty. ^^

Hot pot seafood, pork blood jelly, intestine and sweet potato noodle.Even we love spicy food,
while we were eating this menu we were sweating so much. The taste of the soup is just too good!!
We recommend you to eat this with a lot of rice!! so you are not sweating too much!!

Salt and Pepper Calamari in Sichuan is one of the best calamari we have ever tried.

Stir fried shredded pork with Peking sauce and shallots. This menu is served with  pancake.
This is one of their favorite menu.

Although Red Chilli Sichuan serves more spicy food than non spicy food., we still highly recommend
you to try this restaurant although you are not spicy lovers.

TORAYA JAPAN

One of the best Japanese restaurant in Sydney which offers variety of food including sushi, sashimi,

Our favorite food in TORAYA JAPAN is

TORAYA's Lunch Box Deluxe which includes California rolls (4pcs), selected fresh sashimi (7pcs), tempura, teriyaki chichken, small udon noodle soup, savoury steamed egg custard & dessert.
This is the most complete Japanese Lunch Box we have ever tried in sydney, the taste is just so good and
the price is also reasonable which is $22.

Chicken Katsu Noodle. If you are udon/ soba noodle soup lovers, we highly recommend you to try
this. This udon is served with crumbed deep fried chicken fillet which is very yummy.

Prawn Fry Curry is the best choice for you guys who are curry and rice lovers. This Japanese style
curry is different from any other curry which is served with crumbled and deep fried prawn topping.

Coffee Jelly. Have you tried or even heard of this menu??  This Japanese style coffee flavoured jelly topped with cream is the most recommended menu for your dessert.

This restaurant is just different from any other japanese restaurant. It has a really large variety of food.

Bohdi Restaurant

If you are Chinese, you definitely want to go to Chinese restaurant and ‘yum cha’, even you are currently live in Australia. Bodhi restaurant provides what you need.

Lots of ‘dim sum’ is provided in the restaurant. Most of them are delicious. Although our group members cannot have the same conclusion on which one we should recommend to the others at the beginning, we choose the following two dishes.

Siew Mai

There are four siew mai in each of the steamer basket.  It is made of small whole shrimp and pork. The orange dot in the middle of each siew mai is diced carrot. It looks colorful and prepared as small bite size. The price is acceptable, $5.5 for each steamer basket

Har gow

There are three Har gow in each of the steamer basket.  It is a steamed dumpling with whole shrimp filling and thin wheat starch skin. The size of one har gow is similar to siew mai. As the skin is quite transparent, we can see what is inside there. The price is comparatively high , $6.5 for each steamer basket.

Mr Wong

Wanna try a typical Cantonese food in Sydney?

Mr Wong is our recommendation. Mr Wong located in the heart of Sydney's CBD.
There are 2 levels with glorious decoration. You dont really need to queue up for this restaurant because there are 240 seater.

It is famous not only because of the decoration and size,
but also the food and the Chef, Dan Hong.

Hong Kong style stir fried noodles with Wagyu beef, bean sprouts and garlic chives

We can guarantee that this is the best one, so far, in Sydney.

Wagyu beef is soft and juicy. The bean sprouts, however, make it becomes crispy. Although the noodles are fried, it is not oily at all. The price is quite expensive, $18 for small size and $26 for a larger one. But it is definitely worth.

Mr. Wong’s special fried rice with pork and prawn

Another dish that is worth a try. Customers can choose the original one.
We chose the vegetarian version of the dish as one of our member is vegetarian.
The fried rice is made of prawn, egg, green onion.
It tasted a little bit different because of the special sauce used.
We cant really describe the actual taste of it, you better go and try once.

Mr Wong is a famous restaurant. You need to go once in your lifetime and you will never forget!!
